What's a Plesiosaur?

Creationtales.com Blog -

I figured I'd share a bit from my writings this morning.  There are two young brothers in the book, Noah and Nathan.  The two both love to play a video game called Dino Rodeo.  Unfortunately they have to share the same video game system, so they argue a lot about who gets to play.  In this scene both brothers have just woke up from the first night of a camping trip, and Noah is contently playing his game.

Nathan pulled a plug from Noah's ear.  He was half asleep but still managed to mutter "It's my turn Noah."

"No it's not.  You played all night last night.  It's my turn this morning."

"Okaaaaaay." said Nathan.  "Can you at least show me the plesiosaurs?"

Noah huffed.  Then looked at Nathan and said "Okay."  He took a long breath.  "You have to go back to the dinosaur farm at the beginning."

In the game, Noah's player was a tall skinny cowboy dressed in black, almost like an old time outlaw from out west.  The cowboy's hat and shirt had bright red swooshes on them, plus he was wearing bright red sunglasses.  The cowboy sat on top a rare breed of Tyrannosaurus Rex that was black.  The dinosaur was also accented with red on it's back, head and around it's eyes.  Noah had put in a lot of time to get this T-Rex.  It was one of the biggest and meanest reptiles in the game.  If you were lucky enough to find one of these in the game, and if you were able to tame it when it was young, then you could use them to work on the farm.

Noah led the T-Rex around the farm buildings.  This was where players got to stock up for the game and choose what they would look like and what kind of dinosaurs they would raise.  The T-Rex steered towards a pond that looked like it would be a great place to fish.  A head, mounted on top a long neck, rose from the water to meet the T-Rex.  The game asked "Would you like to tame a Plesiosaur?"  Noah tapped for more information.

A screen popped up with a large Plesiosaur spinning around on the screen.  The game read "Plesiosaurs have large fat bodies, like a large walrus, but they have long necks and tails.  They have 4 large flippers for swimming through the water.  Plesiosaurs do not have gills so they come above the water to breathe.  This breed of dinosaur were some of the first fossils discovered by scientists during the 1800's.  There are more than 100 different kinds, but all have either a long neck with a small head or a short neck with a large head."

The spinning Plesiosaur made a sound, but it wasn't a normal dinosaur roar.  It sounded like a whale call from beneath the water.

"Cool!" said Nathan.  "Is that what they sound like?"

"I guess so" said Nathan.  We haven't heard one in real life yet.
